Held on the 13th & 14th of April 2026, Hennessy Park Hotel, Ebene Cyber City

A two-day Co-Creation Workshop on Mauritius’ Digital Innovation Ecosystem was officially launched, at the Hennessy Park Hotel in Ebène, by the Minister of Information Technology, Communication and Innovation, Dr Avinash Ramtohul. The workshop was organised by the Ministry of Information Technology, Communication and Innovation, in collaboration with the Mauritius Digital Promotion Authority (MDPA), the Information and Communication Technologies Authority (ICTA) and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).

The workshop was part of the Digital Innovation Profile for Mauritius, providing a comprehensive assessment of the country’s innovation capacity and maturity, with the aim of helping stakeholders adapt to an evolving digital landscape while promoting a competitive, sustainable, and ICT-driven economy.

The Head of Digital Innovation Service at ITU Headquarters in Geneva, Mr Mohamed Ba, along with ICTA’s Officer in Charge, Mr Jerome Louis, MDPA’s Officer in Charge, Mr Kaleem Usmani, as well as other distinguished personalities, attended the opening ceremony.

The workshop reviewed the current state of the digital innovation ecosystem, validate identified strengths and gaps, and collaboratively develop targeted recommendations to accelerate innovation across the country.

  • On Day 1, the current state of the country’s digital innovation ecosystem was reviewed  to identify strengths, gaps and areas of needs.

  • On Day 2, the maturity of the innovation ecosystem was evaluated and recommendations co-created to accelerate innovation in the country.

The workshop served as a dual-purpose platform: not only as an opportunity to evaluate the ecosystem and be involved in the process of coming up with relevant strategies and recommendations to expedite innovation in the country but also as a capacity-building initiative for stakeholders. It offered a chance for representatives to acquire valuable skills in participating and contributing to their ecosystem.
