Launching Ceremony
The Mauritius Digital Promotion Agency (MDPA), operating under the aegis of the Ministry of Information Technology, Communication and Innovation is the lead Government institution to pioneer 3D Printing technology. Since 2019, MDPA has setup its 3D Printing Center in the Industrial Zone of Coromandel where various services such as:
• 3D Designing
• 3D Printing
• Awareness and Training
• 3D Scanning and
• Business counselling are offered.
Since the inception of the project, various students pursuing courses in DT, Engineering, Architecture and other technical subjects have sought the MDPA 3D Printing services to produce prototypes for their final year projects.
Launching Ceremony
The Mauritius Digital Promotion Agency (MDPA) operating under the aegis of the Ministry of Information Technology, Communication and Innovation and in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Tertiary Education, Science and Technology is organizing as from March 2024 awareness sessions on 3D Printing Technology for Secondary Students. The target audience for the sessions will be ICT and DT students from grades 10 to 13.
The aim of carrying out the awareness sessions are as follows:
- Initiate students on the concept of 3D designing;
- Conduct demos on 3D Printing technology in view to show a better means of producing viable parts for final year project; and
- Promote the STEM subjects and the MDPA 3D Printing services.
Hon. D. Balgobin, Minister of Information Technology, Communication and Innovation, launched this programme at Dr Manilall Doctor State Secondary School, Lallmatie on Wednesday 20 March 2024. More than 450 secondary students of Grades 10 to 13 from eight different secondary schools attended the launching ceremony.
The objective of the launching ceremony is not only to provide our secondary students the various possibilities of using 3D Printing Technology for their upcoming O and A level projects.
