Digital Awareness at Sir Anerood Jugnauth Recreational Centre, Riambel. The Digital Lab Team had the pleasure of conducting a tech awareness session tailored for senior citizens, aimed at bridging the digital gap and empowering them to embrace the advancements of the modern world.
We kicked off by exploring the evolution of technology, tracing how it has reshaped our daily lives, from the early days of computing to today’s internet-driven world. We highlighted the benefits of using the internet for communication, shopping, and staying informed, while also educating them on potential risks such as scams, phishing, and data privacy vulnerabilities.
Next, we demonstrated how to navigate and use various mobile applications, from messaging platforms to healthcare and banking apps, showing how these tools can simplify day-to-day tasks and keep them connected with loved ones.
The session also included a brief on 3D printing technology, explaining its growing role in industries like healthcare and manufacturing, and sparking curiosity about its potential.
Finally, the highlight of the session was an immersive virtual reality (VR) experience, where participants got to step into a virtual world, exploring how VR can offer new ways to learn, entertain, and even travel.
It was an interactive and informative day, aimed at fostering confidence in the use of technology while keeping safety in mind.
